Post Easter ranting...

Hello all, hope the holiday weekend was good for everyone.   Whew, it has been an intense last few days, learned somethings about some people I didn't want or need to know.   In some cases it was a friend who made me feel uncomfortable and I can deal with them but sadly, it was people we do business with---or I should say,"were going to do business with" and that kind of put a cloud over the weekend.

Thank goodness for my kids who made my birthday on Saturday one of the best ever, no question.   And yesterday I had the honor to perform three times  in our church play.    Those two wonderful things were sandwiched by some very seedy and dishonorable dealings.

Briefly the April show for Performances @ The Well is canceled and the May show is in jeopardy.
I don't know how these people look themselves in the mirrors honestly but, I digress.   For those of you who don't know, at Performances @ The Well we try to put on a monthly show to help aspiring artists AND a local charitable group.   Doing this monthly we can't continue to ask for volunteers or freebies from our friends.   So we approach every show with set costs in mind, more out of respect to our friends who have believed in us and put the time in; also so that when we HAVE to pay, when a friend can't do it for free, funds have been budgeted in.   It's a proven system that works, developing a win-win situation and lots of times...the money made is donated anyways.   But we treat our help with respect it's that simple.

A group approached us last Thanksgiving saying they wanted to partner with us in our mission.  Great we thought.   We thought wrong.   This group really really wanted to play for this particular charity, which was cool with us except...Now just three weeks ago we meet the "contact" for this particular charity and he insisted we move the show to May---we accommodated thinking finding some kind of "filler" for that April night and we really want to work with this group and the charity.   The contact did not like us having control over our show????   Other than ego I couldn't grasp what his problem was.   Then on Good Friday, I found out they (this group and their charity contact) had not only held a meeting without us, but had been taking our program and shopping it around to other facilities!!!   This blew us away.   The group and charity then insisted that I forgo any loyalty to our workers and let them have our facility for the insulting amount of $75.
One thing has lead to another and that group will not be playing our show.

What's really crazy and never ceases to amaze me is that certain questionable people never seem to think that you (I) might actually talk to one of the other parties.   Of course stories don't match, you learn what was said about you and your program, you learn of meetings that happened without our presence.   Really people if you're going to shady, get your act together and get all cohorts on the same page!

Bottom line folks, if you hear something bad about me or anyone here at Lamocu please let us know.   For one thing some of the stuff we have learned over the weekend, just isn't true.   And for another thing, I will go to bat for my crew and the people that have devoted their time, efforts and their Saturday nights at the Well.   So if you hear I got "defensive" or even "irritable" on this situation...I DID.   Class, dignity, professionalism, these people had none of these traits.

Now so that we might have something positive out of this blog, here are the people who have made Performances @ The Well something that I,and the rest of us here at Lamocu, tremendously proud of.
Michael Eaton, Consumer Choice Marketing
Robert & Anne Marie Clark
Ron Burgett of Peg Leg Studios
Frank McCoil
Robert Jinisk
Jeff Waterman
Ken Peters
Sandra Mauer
Mike Favoratto
mess with the above and I get defensive :)   Rock on, until next time, stay tuned.
