A Hero Falls returns to InSights!

A Hero Falls returns to InSights on June 6th! Lamocu Productions is very excited about this show and proud to be associated with these young people. Rarely do you see talent and personality go hand in hand, but such is the case here. I mean I loved Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple and Rainbow) a genius with the guitar but, also a known creep to work with. His temper was legendary and when he would lose his temper at a DP concert it would force the remaining members to work that much harder to put on a good show for the audience---I have the dvd to prove it. lol It is documented that you could "almost" make an entire band (except Lead Guitarist of course) out of the musicians he had fired from Rainbow. But such is not the case with these young people at all. They all have good heads on their shoulders and are a pleasure to be around. We at Lamocu have been very impressed not only their talent but with their personality, intelligence & professionalism.

If you think that you don't hear enough good news about young people, only the bad, you're in for a treat with A Hero Falls. It is hard rock make no mistake about it, but it is rock and roll that all ages can appreciate and enjoy. They are our "new" favorite around here and feel confident you will feel the same once you see them. Check out their link to MySpace or find them on Facebook.

Tickets for the show are $10 adults, $5 for children and students with ID. Doors for the 8pm show will open 7pm. Hope to see you all there, thanks and stay tuned.

This Just In!

This is a special day for us here at Lamocu Productions! Not only have we been blessed with partnering with some wonderful talent in that last few months such as Lauren Alm, Will Springsteen, Mr. Hyde & Uptown Sound (who have allowed US the privilage to represent them). Today we became the management for the Partly Brothers! For experienced professionals such as Luti and Brian to see value in our work is a great compliment. To experience more of the Partly Brothers please go to their MySpace site, www.myspace.com/partlybrothers and check out their cd "From The Start" from James Music.

"From The Start" cd's, autographed posters of Luti and Brian and merchandise from all the acts we represent will be available at concession stands at our events. Stay tuned for developments as they occur and thanks for following along.

Comedy Open Mic Debuts!

Some day when future volumes of this book come out, it may very well showcase pictures of comedians you will see this Saturday at InSights. Why you may ask? Is it because we are soooo confident that the people we have assembled are THAT good? Well,...YES it is that we are that confident. You see we went after the "pros from Dover" here, the improv group Whatever You Call It was formed and anchored by Second City graduate Dan Harris. So like, we have documentation and everything that they will be funny, so there.

What stand-ups make it to the show is still in the works but we do know this, every Comedy Open Mic that Lamocu puts on at InSights will have "trained professionals" in charge. For those of you who do not like to laugh, this could be very scary.

As we approach our one year anniversary of doing Open Mic's at InSights, it has always been our goal to have one night develop into just music and the other reserved for comedy. Dan Harris' graduation and ascent into "improv credibility" has made all this possible. With a trained troupe running the show we can be sure every night will fresh, innovative and something the audience can participate in. Our reluctance to make the jump until now has been due to the failure of other comedy open mic's that have the same comics show up week after week and do the same routine which leads to the ultimate demise of the event itself. With Dan's troupe it will be the equivalent of having a "house band" and will ensure our success.

Special Guests @ Variety Show Tonight!

NEWSFLASH...Dateline, Brighton, Michigan.
Lamocu and The Guild are very pleased to announce that The Partly Brothers will be appearing in tonight's Variety Show. Tom Harris, the show's emcee had always envisioned that when this project got rolling, performers would be coming to us. Such is the case here because Luti (L) and Brian (R) are squeezing this performance into an "already" booked weekend for them. They like playing at InSights so much they wanted to be part of this, plus I grovelled a little bit when another act dropped---but that's not the point, the point is that they're going to be here!
Another Lamocu favorite, Mr. Hyde may be making an appearence. The boys from Mr. Hyde will be debuting their new project called Uptown Sound which is destined to be the ultimate party machine: part band, part dj, part dance and total entertainment.
Local magician Kurtis Mollmann will be making his stage debut with us as well. So DON'T miss this night of entertainment. We also have exceptional talent returning this month with Brandi Nicole, Will Springsteen, Lauren Alm and some other surprises as well. Every Variety Show has been different and this one stacks up to be a great one. Showtime is 8pm, tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and students with ID. Doors will open at 7pm.
Hope to see you tonight, it's the best entertainment value around in one of the greates "unknown" venues around. Until later, stay tuned.

Rock & Roll Heaven!

It's the 3rd Saturday, so it's Variety Night!

It's the 3rd Saturday of the month...so therefore, it must be the Variety Show at InSights. This is only logical since Open Mic's occupy the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.

For months you may have read about the The Guild of Insightful Sounds and wondered what it was. Well in a nutshell, it's guild or club/association formed to celebrate and support "sound" entertainment. Speakers, comics, actors and of course musicians fall under this category and they are our "bread & butter", they are why we exist. Anyone can become a member, dues are $50 a year and gets you a pass to all entertainment sponsored by Lamocu Productions. Next time you're at one of our events simply ask the ticket seller for information on becoming a Guild member. Our new logo was designed by graphic artist and Guild member, Karen Mills.

Now, as stated above, this week is our Variety Show. It will be our third endeavor and it looks like it's found a home at the 3rd Saturday of the month. This show will feature some new acts not only to the show but new to InSights and Lamocu Productions as well. But one act we are very excited about is the return of the Partly Brothers! Due to the distance they have to come, the Partly Brothers will be performing for a full half hour.
That's all for now, hope to see you all on Saturday, until then, stay tuned.

Rock & Roll Fantasy Coda

Well it's long overdue, our apologies, but here is the Male Lead Singer for Lamocu Productions Fantasy Band. Ian Gillan of Deep Purple. That's it, we're open for your comments on this and there is plenty of singers to comment on. There will be tons of deserving votes for the front men of the "mega" bands like Zeppelin, the Stones, the Who as there should be. Van Halen fans will eternally have the debate between David Lee and Sammy and I don't envy their predicament. But, that's what makes this so much fun.

Your Lead Singer has to have a strong stage presence, be able to develop a rapport with the audience. If that connection is not made the performance can be a waste of time for both performer and audience. So the position is critical even though this part of the band rarely plays an instrument. The best ones can initiate a reaction from the audience, bring them into the performance and make the show a special moment for all parties involved.

All that said, Ian barely beat out Roger Daltry and Alice Cooper for us. It was a tough choice for us, but long overdue. So here is the final lineup for Lamocu Productions Fantasy Band.

Our Rock and Roll Fantasy Band

Joe Bouchard, Bass from Blue Oyster Cult
Keith Emerson, Keyboards from Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Neil Peart, Drummer from Rush
Pete Townsend, Lead Guitar from the Who
Gary Richrath, Lead Guitar from R.E.O. Speedwagon
Alto Reed, xtra musician from Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band
Linda Ronstadt, Female Lead singer
Ian Gillan, Male Lead singer from Deep Purple

Stand up comic can draw!

Veteran stand up comic Trevor Smith has another side of him that many may not yet know. During the daylight hours he walks the planet as mild mannered Journalism major at Western Michigan University. And on May 6th his first editorial cartoon for the Western Herald came out. Here in all it's initial black and white glory...is that historic cartoon. To follow future installments go to the Western Herald web site and click on "Cartoon". Thanks for reading along, remember to keep you stick on the ice and stay tuned.

Will Springsteen to perform at Ladies Night!

Will Springsteen will be performing at tonight's Ladies Night Out at the InSights Group. For those of you familiar with our Ladies Night's, you know that they turn into one big party---for patrons and vendors alike. This has the makings of a classic! With a theme of "Hollywood and movie stars", over thirty vendors and now Will...well, we'll just history write itself. lol

Ladies Night goes from 6-10pm tonight, for more information about tonight please go to the InSights web site. And don't forget, tomorrow evening Will helps kick off our "acoustic" Open Mic night along with Lauren Alm and perhaps some special guests. More on that later, so stay tuned.

A Hero Falls, an AWESOME Debut!

Well to call this a "debut" is pushing it considering all the gigs this band has had in the last few months but... they had not played in their hometown until Saturday night. The word success doesn't completely describe what happened here at InSights, a more accurate description would be "magical". Yes it was a magical evening when A Hero Falls made their debut in Livingston county, and it was long overdue!

For those of you who have seen A Hero Falls, but did not attend Saturday, you saw a different band. Because on Saturday was the debut of their new lead singer April. If you thought they were good before, you're in for a treat. April brought back memories of Pat Benatar for me personally (ironic we just finished femal lead singers for our Fantasy Bands isn't it) and they kicked serious a#$!!!!!
Here, hot off the presses are the latest promo pictures of the band for your review.

You can follow the band's schedule on their MySpace site and if you go there you'll see they're scheduled to return to InSights on June 6th! We had them booked for a return visit before they left the building Saturday night! This June will be the one year anniversary of Open Mic Nights here at InSights and we're very proud to have A Hero Falls kick off this very special month for us.
Mark the date of June 6th and be sure to be at InSights to be part of our anniversary celebration. A Hero Falls will give you a great show, at a great price and I guarantee you will walk away feeling satisfied. I could write for several more paragraphs on how much I love this band, but see for yourself what all the buzz is about; go to A Hero Falls right now! More later, until then, stay tuned.
