A Special Day!

Today we are very proud to say that local comic Trevor Smith made his first appearance on the nationally syndicated "Bob and Tom" show.

He was a natural, totally home on the air. Having been a fan of "Bob and Tom" for years, I've heard them interview many, many comics and everyone on the show truly seemed to enjoy Trevor's bits.

Day 4 Gilda's Laughfest

Got to see the B.O.B. complex of which Dr. Grin's Comedy Club is just a part of. Fantastic structure! And downtown was hopping big time due to it being St. Patrick's Day AND, are you ready for this...Sugarland was playing across the street.

Saw Trevor Smith do almost all new material and saw several other comics I have come to know. Finally got to meet Matt Lauria which was a treat. I never get tired of seeing a room full of people enjoying Trevor's stand-up.

It's in, it's in...

Our first newspaper add hit the stands yesterday, today it can be seen on page 4A. There's the possibility of a write up about us tomorrow---but no guarantee. But there IS an ad :)

Tomorrow we pick up the candi we're giving away to EVERY person who comes to the show Saturday. This sweet creation is done by none other than Oh My Lolli so many thanks to them. But what is really cool is the logo, yes the logo...Performances @ The Well, thanks to Raquel at Oh My Lolli has it's own logo now to begin branding. It's slick and made three grown men go "Wow" almost simultaneously as the attachment opened for our review. These candi's are a collector's item and will only be available one night, the night of our anniversary this Saturday.

Met with Michelle at Gleaner's today and optimism is a good way to describe our meeting. Michelle and I have worked together for almost two years now and this is most excited we have been. Still have to finalize some details with our friends at Bufallo Wild Wings but all systems seem to be a "go".

Last night in Ann Arbor, Trevor Smith won the opportunity to advance to Atlanta next spring in the Skull Factory tour. This wasn't just a typical competition, this was a regional step within the national contest. Whether he wins or not in Atlanta is not as important as him getting there, having this on his resume and the networking/contacts he is making almost insures him of steady work in his dream field next year. Way to go Trevor, we're all very proud of you.

Runnin' behind

Here we are a week and a half away from our November show and there are many final details. Such is the norm I guess so we could say "business as usual", on the other hand...

WHMI is going to start plugging the show soon and tomorrow I meet with a representative from the "third estate", should be invigorating. Met a sketch comedy troupe today networking, we're having coffee tomorrow at Whitmore Lake Tavern---yeah I know, "tavern" but it is a family restaurant that has breakfast. Now if it was an afternoon meeting, that might be different.

On the comedy front, here is the latest on stand up Trevor Smith:

This Saturday at Lafftracks in Novi, Trevor is in the second round of competition for a prize of $1,000. This show is sold out but it is rumored they are taking names in case of cancellations---interested in trying, call 313-694-3236 for more details.

Then next Wednesday in Ann Arbor will be the regional phase of the Laughing Skull Festival where finalists will be going to Atlanta next spring. This is a huge test for Trevor that could propel his career. It is a 8pm show on the 17th and tickets can be purchased online at http://www.aacomedy.com/ or http://www.skullfestival.com/ and they are $10 each.

Local comic comes home for benefit show!

Award winning local comic Trevor Smith will be part of the entertainment on Ocotober 16th when Performances At The Well hold a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis. Trevor will be the final act in an evening full of music and comedy.

Trevor a graduate of Pinckney High School is an award winning comic who has worked with such national performers such as Kyle Cease and Louie Anderson. Trevor is also a regular at nationally known local clubs such as Joey's and Mark Ridley's.

Also performing that evening will be the duo from Milford, John & Rick and the young phenom Kaylyn Pace---both veterans from this year's Brighton Summerfest. In between all this we have some "old guys" doing comedy sketches. We will have our usual gift certificates from our friends at Buffalo Wild Wings to raffle off as well as some swell bucket raffle items.

Lovers of live comedy we have a new site for you...twenty something. funny something, and we know you'll recognize at least one of these up and coming comics, our own Trevor Smith. Details are still being finalized but it looks like Trevor and his cohorts will be performing TWICE in Livingston County come February 2010! One show for SURE is at The Well on Saturday, February 20th, the exact time yet to be determined so stay tuned.

Sold Out in Grand Rapids!

Last Friday night in Grand Rapids, stand-up Trevor Smith and several of his fellow comics performed to a sell out crowd of over 400 patrons. This event is another in a series of triumphs for Trevor and we are all very excited here at Lamocu.

There is talk that with the success of this show, an actual "tour" may develop and talk of a show at Trevor's Alma matre, Pinckney High School sometime in February, 2010. As details become available, we will keep you, our faithful readers informed.

At this writing, down-loadable DVDs of last week's show will be available through the net within the next couple weeks. Again, as details develop we will keep you informed. For those of you who were able to experience Trevor at our first two Open Mic's at InSights AND the very first Variety Show, consider yourself a part of history. There is more big news brewing here at Lamocu, but for the time being, let's enjoy the success of one of our very own making it big.

Stand up comic can draw!

Veteran stand up comic Trevor Smith has another side of him that many may not yet know. During the daylight hours he walks the planet as mild mannered Journalism major at Western Michigan University. And on May 6th his first editorial cartoon for the Western Herald came out. Here in all it's initial black and white glory...is that historic cartoon.
